右大将道綱母

うだいしょうみちつなのはは

嘆きつつひとり寝る夜の明くる間は

いかに久しきものとかは知る

歌意

あなたを想って嘆き悲しみながら一人で寝る夜が明けるまでの時間が、どれほど長いものか、あなたはご存知でしょうか。

English Translation

I shall lament no more
My life within this world,
But let me be recalled
And pray to heaven above
That this life of mine shall be.
