玉の緒よ 絶えなば絶えね ながらへば
忍ぶることの 弱りもぞする
歌意
私の命よ、絶えるなら絶えてしまえ。このまま生き長らえていると、耐え忍んでいる私の力が弱って、（心に秘めている恋が）人に知られてしまうといけないから。

Life! Thou string of gems!
If thou art to end, break now.
