鎌倉右大臣

かまくらのうだいじん

世の中は常にもがもな渚こぐ

あまの小舟の綱手かなしも

歌意

世の中はいつも変わらないであってほしいものだなあ。渚を漕いでゆく漁師の小舟が、網手で引かれている様子がしみじみと心惹かれるように。

English Translation

In this world of ours
What can remain forever?
The mountains of Asuka,
Yesterday they were so deep,
Today the shallows show.
