さきのだいそうじょうじえん
おほけなく うき世の民に おほふかな
わがたつそまに 墨染の袖
歌意
身の程知らずなことだと思いますが、このつらい世の中を生きる人々の全体を包み込んであげたいのです。（比叡山に住み始めた）私の墨染の袖で。

Though I am not fit,
I have dared to shield the folk
Of this woeful world
With my black-dyed (sacred) sleeve:--
