さんぎまさつね
み吉野の 山の秋風 さ夜ふけて
ふるさと寒く 衣打つなり
歌意
吉野山の秋風が吹き、夜が更けてくると、(かつて都があったこの)古里は寒々と感じられ、衣を打つ(砧の)音が聞こえてくることだ。
English Translation
Like the Yoshino stream,
Which has its source among the hills
That hold the village;
Though the channel is not deep,
Yet the water flows and flows.
